Hello, my name is Mercy Manyema and I am an Advanced Religious Specialist in Christian Pastoral Counselling, registered with the Council for Pastoral and Spiritual Counsellors. I completed my PhD in Public Health in 2020 which focused on the impact of adverse childhood events on mental health, and this was my gateway to becoming a mental health practitioner. I then studied Christian Counselling at the South African Theological Seminary, graduating in 2022, with distinction.

We all face overwhelming circumstances at some point in our lives which can cause psychological distress, or precipitate mental disorders. Counselling therapy is one of the tools that can help us to regain our footing and bounce back.

The counselling process is a relationship in which I  empathically step into your world, helping you to overcome your challenges. My counselling approach is integrated and eclectic, drawing insight from various psychological models, as well as the Bible. Although I operate from a biblical worldview, I do not force my beliefs on another person. I believe that all clients, must be treated with the utmost of respect, unconditional positive regard, compassion and understanding. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment in which clients can explore their life challenges and find growth and healing.
